WHEREAS, same-sex “marriages” are contrary to the plain meaning of the Scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments,

WHEREAS, same-sex “marriages” are contrary to the essential tenets of the Reformed faith as expressed in the Confessions of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and therefore contrary to our mutually agreed upon ordination standards,

WHEREAS, same-sex “marriages” are an accommodation to a cultural trend that is contrary to God’s revealed will, and

WHEREAS, we will each stand before the holy God and be held to account for our submitted obedience to God’s word, God’s Son, and God’s will,

Now, therefore, be it resolved on this 28th day of April, 2015, by the session of Niagara Presbyterian Church (also known as Niagara United Presbyterian Church) of Niagara Falls, New York:

This local church will continue to maintain our historic understanding of biblical marriage as being between one man and one woman and this local church will not authorize the use of our church property for any “marriage,” “wedding” or “blessing” services outside of that understanding. This has always been our position and will continue to be our position regardless of the acts of state or national civil authorities. In categorically prohibiting a “marriage” service for same-sex couples at this local church in the Presbyterian Church (USA) we are relying on the Advisory Opinion regarding “Approved Amendment of W-4.9000,” a copy of which will be appended to our session minutes.
