When King Saul heard that his daughter Michal loved David he had a wonderful, awful idea. This idea included David trying to kill one hundred Philistines and bringing a piece of their skin to Saul. In this way David would pay the bridal price for Michal and they would get married. Of course there is no guarantee that Saul would honor the deal for twice already Saul has promised one of his daughters to David and David has defeated the Philistines but then when the time came Saul refused to give him the daughter Saul promised. So now we want to see if David kills one hundred Philistines and gets to marry the princess.

David was happy with the idea of being the king’s son-in-law. So within the time Saul gave him to kill one hundred Philistines he got up and went with his troops and killed two hundred Philistines and then brought the requested piece of skin from each one to the king that he might become the king’s son-in-law. And this time Saul gave him his daughter for a wife and he was even more afraid of David. At every turn Saul was David’s enemy being afraid of David because Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David and that Saul’s daughter Michal loved David.

Then the commanders of the Philistines came out to battle again and again and as often as they came out to fight the armies of the living God it was obvious that David and his troops were much more successful at defeating them than all the servants of Saul were. Therefore, the people continued to praise David more than Saul.

So Saul called in all the servants of Saul and called in his son Jonathan and told them to kill David. What would Jonathan do? You will have to wait and see.
