You know what it is like to taste bitter water. Your cold that will just not go away, your knee that gives you excruciating pain, the cancer growing in your body, your job that drains the joy from your life, your child who has strayed away from what is good, affection between you and your spouse has grown cold, your addiction to alcohol or drugs or an adrenaline rush will not let go, and on and on the list continues. Even things that should taste good have started tasting bitter because of the harshness of this life. Surely you know then what this bitter water tastes like. I want us to see in this message what this bitter water can teach us but also where we can find water that is sweet. So we are going to look at Exodus 15:22-27 where the people of Israel could not drink the water of Marah (Marah means bitter) and in grumbling and unbelief they said, “What shall we drink?” And I want you to hear this aware that we too live in a Marah world where everything tastes bitter and ask in faith, “What then shall we drink?”
