So we left off the story of David with King Saul throwing yet a third time a spear thinking to pin David to the wall. So what happened? David moved so that the spear struck into the wall and he hid and then ran away under the cover of night. That night went like this: Saul sent spies to watch David’s house so that Saul might kill David in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife who was also Saul’s daughter, told him that he better escape if he is going to live. So she let him down through a window and he got away. Meanwhile, Michal made the bed up to look like he was in it. And when Saul’s spies came to get David, she told them, “He is sick.” So Saul sent them back to see David and said to carry him on his bed to Saul so that Saul could kill him. And when they got to the bed and realized that she had tricked them they took her to Saul and Saul asked why she had done this. So she said to her father, “David said to me, ‘Let me go. Why should I kill you.’

Now David came to the place where the prophet Samuel was living and he told Samuel about all these things that Saul had been doing to him. So they went together to go stay in another place and word of this got back to Saul. So Saul sent spies to go seize David and they saw the group of prophets prophesying and Samuel standing there as their head.

But did they catch David? We’ll just have to wait and see.
