1 Cor 7:17-24 is a strange section of application for this essay on men and women in the family because it is not so much about men and women in the family as it is about being Jews, Gentiles, slaves, and free. This is not just Paul getting off on a tangent, but is the natural application of the theological foundation to other issues so as to bolster his advice on the main issues at hand. The main point here that we should not miss is that you do not need to become someone or something else to be useful and valuable to God. You have been bought at great price — the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
