Isaiah 7:1-9 starts our season of Advent reminding us to choose faith rather than fear as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s first coming and prepare for His second coming. Sometimes we can be overwhelmed with the present conflicts rather than remembering the hope we have in Christ for the big one that matters. In this message I use the illustration of various military conflicts to show that the passage is relevant for us today and that we should be able to see why unbelief was so attractive to Ahaz and the people of Judah. We who have the Spirit within us have a real choice between faith and fear when we hear the news headlines. In each situation where we find ourselves we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory or we can live into the victory accomplished by Jesus.
