Luke 23:1-25 tells us about the trial of Jesus before Pilate and Herod.  Luke quotes Pilate’s words saying that Jesus is not guilty four times and implies there was at least one more time that he said it.  Thus Pilate does not want to go along with the religious leaders and hand Jesus over to be crucified.  Herod really wanted to meet Jesus and was glad to see Him.  He too does not want to hand Jesus over to be crucified.  Neither politician saw Jesus as a political threat to them.  Jesus was found not guilty.  But the chief priests and scribes were insistent — they would not take “no” for an answer.  And after getting this run-around from the Roman government for a while, they got what they wanted.  The responses of the religious leaders and the politicians to the trial of Jesus are also common responses to the trial of Jesus today.  Listen to find out how and to see if there might be another way.
