Isaiah 35 tells us about the Highway of Holiness, the same highway that John the Baptist would call for in the words of Isaiah 40. Putting a highway through the desert wastes of that part of the world is much like trying to put in a straight highway in West Virginia. But the highway we are talking about is Jesus Himself and those who walk on this highway are those with the saving graces of faith in Jesus and repentance unto life. So if you are on this highway of holiness then you are full of gladness and gratitude. It is not a highway for those who rest in their own holiness. If you are walking on this highway of holiness then you are noticing transformation, positive reversal from desert to fruitfulness, in your life. Are you wandering in the wilderness waste or are you walking on the Highway of Holiness?
